Backflow Prevention Assembly Testing

The State of California requires at least once a year that a certified backflow prevention assembly tester test a backflow prevention assembly, which provides service protection of a potable water source.

What is backflow?

Backflow is the undesired reversal flow of water caused by backsiphonage or backpressure. It can present a serious health risk because backflow can contaminate potable water supplies.

A backflow prevention assembly is used to prevent backflow.

Preventing Contamination

Backflow prevention assemblies are designed to stop the reverse flow of water, which could potentially carry contaminants or pollutants, and prevent it from entering the clean water supply.

Preserving Water Quality

Even minor issues in backflow prevention assemblies can compromise water quality.

Maintaining Public Health

Contaminated water can carry bacteria, chemicals, or other harmful substances that pose health risks when consumed.
